Fighting Brain Cancer & the Athletic Heart

By Rob Sutter

There are certain events in life that you simply have to look at and admire because of the heart seen. Sometimes we question our limits and wonder whether or not we can go about certain actions in the shapes that we're in. However, sometimes an inspiration story can bring about and we can be instilled, believing that we can go about those degrees of action as well. In terms of fighting brain cancer, no story in recent memory is greater than the one about Iram Leon.

An article which was shown on Beaumont Enterprises talked about the Gusher marathon and its winner, a patient fighting brain cancer named Iram Leon. He was able to pass the finish line at 3 hours, 7 minutes, and 35 seconds, a time which is quite impressive, to say the least. In order to prove himself further, though, he was able to go about the marathon while pushing Kiana, his six-year-old, around while she was situated in a stroller. This story of heart is one that deserves the attention of organizations along the lines of Voices Against Brain Cancer.

Leon, on his own, is someone who was able to be successful despite the condition he was in. The article stated that the cancer is a troubling one based on how the tumor is seen in the brain; it's located around the same area where features like memory, language, and spatial orientation are located. This is especially troubling for him, since he's not able to drive a car or make turns as easily as others could. Seeing as how he was able to perform well in the marathon, though, such factors haven't slowed him down.

I think that Leon's story focuses on a number of features but the ones concerning family and life seem to stand out more than any others. He knows that life is precious and he wants to spend it with the family that he is invested in. It's the way that he goes about every day and he enjoys being able to take every moment to be with his loved ones. Considering that these ideals are ones that many hold close to the heart, Leon's story is quite relatable.

"Inspiration" seems to be the best term that comes to mind when it comes to Iram Leon and the way that he goes through life. People who are fighting brain cancer can most certainly turn to this figure and see just how much he values the personal aspects of life. Family is easily one of the most important and I think that just about anyone will be able to agree. No matter what condition one might be in, spending time with loved ones is one of the most important actions to take.
